While this mainly affects products like cosmetics and detergents, certain exceptions apply to food additives. š¢ Regulation (EU) 2025/351 (in force since March 16, 2025)Ā Covers food contact materials and updates requirements for plastics intended to come into contact with food. It strengthens compliance obligations and introduces additional requirements, including labeling aspects for reusable plastic products. š¢ EFSA activities The European Food Safety Authority (#EFSA) is working on a comprehensive risk assessment on microplastics in food, drinking water, and air by the end of 2027.
