In which foods have microplastics been found?π€ #Microplastics are no longer just an environmental concern, they are increasingly relevant in the food chain. Higher contamination risks are often associated with: π€ Seafood (especially mussels and shrimp) π Fish from heavily polluted waters π§Drinking water in reusable bottles & packaged beverages π₯‘ Highly processed and packaged foods As macroplastics in the oceans (e.g. packaging waste) break down, they form microplastics. Marine organisms (especially filter feeders) absorb these particles, making seafood a key focus of analysis. However, microplastics are not limited to marine products. Studies have also detected them in: π§ Sea salt π― Honey πΊ Beer π Fruits and vegetables What do you think is the biggest challenge in reducing microplastics in food?
