Antibiotics, hormones, and steroids in animal food products are a safety concern for EU citizens. European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)'s latest yearly report on veterinary medicinal product residues brings reassuring news: in 2024, only 0.13% of nearly 500,000 samples of animal-derived foods (meat, dairy, eggs, and honey) were non-compliant. These results are consistent with 2023. Non-compliance was slightly higher for imports (0.20%) and randomized surveillance (0.22%) than for domestic production (0.16%). The data shows that existing EU control measures are largely effective at keeping our food safe. ✅ At Tentamus, we help you stay ahead of compliance. We test your animal-derived food products and verify they meet all regulatory standards. Get in touch: 📩 [email protected]
