🚀A major step forward for sustainable steelmaking in Azerbaijan: the Bankable Feasibility Study for the 2.0 Mtpa HBI project has been successfully completed, confirming the technical and economic viability of the initiative. The results were presented during a stakeholder event in Baku on June 4, 2026, marking an important alignment phase ahead of the next engineering and execution steps. Led by Azerbaijan Metal Company (AzMC), the project will support the development of a new HBI production hub in the Shamkir region, scheduled for commissioning at the end of 2029. Tenova is proud to contribute its ENERGIRON Zero Reformer technology, jointly developed with Danieli, enabling the production of high-quality, low-carbon metallics for the steel industry of the future. "The AzMC project aligns closely with Tenova’s mission to support the global transition toward low-carbon steelmaking. Azerbaijan is uniquely positioned to become a regional leader in high-quality metallics, and this initiative represents an important opportunity to introduce advanced direct reduction technology in a market with strong industrial growth potential." said Paolo Argenta, Executive Vice President of Tenova Upstream. As demand for low-carbon steelmaking solutions continues to grow, HBI will play an increasingly important role in the industry’s decarbonization journey. 🔗Read more: https://lnkd.in/dVwDebm8
