In 1923, a Berlin city planner named Leonhard Adler had a radical dream. An airport at Tempelhofer Feld, with its central urban location, would be the envy of the continent. No other city in the world presided over such a well-placed, undeveloped space. Convinced, Adler launched a one-man crusade to make it happen.
