That was one of the key takeaways from today’s discussion in Almedalen with Patrik Hofbauer at Telia, Anders Söderholm at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Felipe Ortiz at Brookfield. As AI adoption accelerates, the conversation is shifting from models to capabilities. Who controls the infrastructure? Where is data processed? How do we combine innovation, security and resilience? For Sweden and Europe, digital sovereignty is increasingly becoming a competitiveness issue. Building sovereign AI requires more than technology. It requires collaboration between academia, industry and the public sector. That is why Telia, KTH and Brookfield are partnering to explore new sovereign AI capabilities, AI infrastructure and innovation initiatives that can help strengthen Sweden’s position in the AI era.
