Telespazio, part of Leonardo Space, had the honour of welcoming the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, Cecilie Myrseth, and the Ambassador of Norway to Italy, Tord Tukun, together with a delegation of representatives from Norwegian institutions and industry, to the Fucino Space Centre. 🤝 The delegation was welcomed by Gabriele Pieralli, Chief Executive Officer of Telespazio, alongside the top management of Telespazio, Leonardo Space and e-GEOS. Following presentations by Leonardo Space, Telespazio and e-GEOS, the delegation visited some of the Centre's key operational facilities, including the Galileo Control Centre, the Launch and Early Orbit Phase (LEOP) Control Room and the Master Control Room. 🌍 The visit provided a valuable opportunity to discuss a range of strategically relevant topics, including Arctic monitoring, geoinformation services and maritime surveillance, areas where space-based technologies play an increasingly critical role and where Norwegian and Italian expertise can meaningfully converge. The Fucino Space Centre is also set to host one of the ground control centres for IRIS², the EU's next-generation secure satellite constellation, further cementing its role as a cornerstone of Europe's sovereign space capabilities. The visit showcased the strategic role of the Fucino Space Centre as one of Europe's leading hubs for satellite operations, navigation services and space infrastructure, while highlighting the expertise and innovation capabilities that support critical space programmes and international cooperation initiatives.
