Presented by Lebreton Gallery at TEFAF New York, this group of ceramics by Jean Derval highlights the work of one of the most distinctive figures in twentieth-century French ceramics. Initially trained as a graphic artist, Derval later turned to ceramics, working in Vallauris alongside figures such as Robert Picault and Roger Capron before establishing his own atelier, Atelier du Portail, in 1951. “Jean Derval’s ceramics stand out for their powerful synthesis of sculpture, mythology, and Mediterranean spirit.
