What does it take for a micro-enterprise to scale sustainably into a formal corporate entity? In El Salvador, Jessica Cañas and Ricardo Ernesto Sánchez initially ran their restaurant business on instinct. The shift allowed them to weather major shocks—including a devastating fire in 2021—and scale systematically without taking on outside debt.
