As we approach World Refugee Day on June 20th, 2026, we are proud to stand with the TechnoServe Women and Youth Practice and the Mastercard Foundation Inclusion Community of Practice. In collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation Voices of Impact and with the steadfast support of the Department of Refugee Services (DRS) Kenya, we are working to shift the narrative from displacement to potential. Our efforts are yielding real change, made possible through the commitment of our implementing partners and the guidance of the Department of Refugee Services in Kenya. To date, we have successfully trained 281 refugees achieving 93% of our program target equipping them with the essential entrepreneurial skills to thrive in the Blue Economy sector. This year’s theme, #TalentBeyondBorders, is a powerful reminder that refugees are not passive recipients of support; they are dynamic entrepreneurs, innovators, and leaders driving sustainable solutions within our economies. Through the BlueBiz Program, we are committed to expanding pathways to dignified and fulfilling work for all young people, including refugees and host communities. We know that economic inclusion, especially through a gender-inclusive lens, is an untapped opportunity for growth. When we create space for refugee talent, we build stronger, more resilient communities for everyone. Let’s move beyond awareness to collective action. Join us this week as we celebrate the remarkable talent that knows no borders. #WorldRefugeeDay #TalentBeyondBorders #MFVoicesOfImpact #EconomicInclusion #YoungAfricaWorks #TechnoServe #BlueBizProgram #DepartmentOfRefugeeServices
