What if launching cargo into space didn’t require fuel at all? In a TEDxTechnion 2025 talk, Hilla Haddad Chmelnik introduces a radically different approach to space launch: a kinetic system powered by physics and electromagnetic acceleration. At Moonshot Space, this vision is already taking shape. By replacing traditional rocket fuel with electromagnetic force, the company is working toward a more sustainable, scalable, and accessible space economy. The concept goes even further. As long-term human expansion into space becomes a real goal, technologies like a lunar mass driver will be essential. This work begins here on Earth: first by building a resilient supply chain to orbit, and then by extending the same principles to the Moon. This is not science fiction, it’s the first step toward a new era in how we reach space. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format, independently organized by a local community.
