Can all the world’s internet data fit inside a shoebox? As the volume of digital data grows at an unprecedented pace, traditional storage technologies are reaching their limits. In a TEDxTechnion talk, Prof. Eitan Yaakobi explores a surprising solution: DNA. DNA, nature’s most efficient information storage system, may hold the key to the future of data storage. In his research, Prof. Yaakobi from the Taub Faculty of Computer Science, develops advanced error-correcting algorithms and integrates deep learning methods to make DNA-based storage not only possible but practical. By bridging biology, computer science, and engineering, his work is transforming what once sounded like science fiction into a scalable solution for one of the digital age’s greatest challenges. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format, independently organized by a local community.
