Six Israeli Students Win Medals at International Chemistry Olympiad in Historic Achievement! In a remarkable achievement for Israel’s scientific education community, all six members of the national high school chemistry team—trained at The Schulich Faculty Of Chemistry in the Technion —won medals at the 60th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad, held in Moscow. The competition brought together 165 outstanding students from 35 countries. The Israeli delegation delivered an exceptional performance, with every participant earning a medal, including a gold medal and a top-five global ranking. The Israeli delegation: • Itamar Ben Shmuel (Ramat Gan), Kfar Hayarok High School – Gold Medal (5th place worldwide) • Daniel Granovsky (Holon), Pinchas Aylon High School – Silver Medal • Yehonadav Marienberg (Mazkeret Batya), Yeshivat Har Etzion for Young Men – Silver Medal • Yogev Cohen Ben Zaken (Tzoran), Kfar Hayarok High School – Bronze Medal • Yoav Pripaz Cohen (Ramat Gan), Ohel Shem High School – Bronze Medal • Noam Margulies (Petah Tikva), Moshe Arens High School – Bronze Medal The delegation was led by Itamar Steinitz and Guy Zimmerman, both Olympiad medalists and instructors in the national program. Prof. Zeev Gross, academic director of the program, noted the emotional significance of the timing: “The competition began the day after Holocaust Remembrance Day and concluded on Independence Day, with all six students standing on stage as medalists alongside the Israeli flag.” The students trained intensively throughout the year under head coach Dr. Reut Shapira and a dedicated professional team, as part of a national initiative led by the Future Scientists Center (Maimonides) and the Ministry of Education Israel. The Technion is proud to play a central role in nurturing the next generation of scientific leaders. #imcho60 #ProudMoment #IsraeliExcellence #YoungScientists #ChemistryOlympiad #STEM #ScienceWins #FutureLeaders #StudentAchievement #EducationMatters #Inspiration #NextGenScientists
