Heads or tails? In the quantum world, it can be both at once 🙂🙃 That’s called superposition, and it means a quantum bit, or qubit, can be both 0 and 1 at the same time. The number of possible calculations grows exponentially with each qubit you include in the system. At DTU, researchers are exploring what that strange property of quantum physics actually means for technology, and how it could change the way we build sensors, computers, and protect data. These sensors are sensitive enough to detect tiny changes in gravity and magnetic fields. That can be used for green technology or for doctors to pick up faint magnetic signals from the body. At DTU, researchers are fabricating the physical building blocks for future quantum computers. Today’s encryption will eventually be breakable by quantum computers. DTU’s researchers are working on post-quantum encryption, new mathematical methods designed to be secure, even from quantum computers.
