As the child of a mother who was active in the women's movement of the 1970s, Hanna K.L. Johansson has always been concerned with the issue of gender equality. Her interest did not diminish when, in connection with her PhD, she discovered that research into the impact of harmful chemicals on fertility had been conducted almost exclusively on males. “I thought: This is not fair. I'm going to do something about it!” Through her research into the effects of harmful chemicals on women's fertility, she is helping to fill a knowledge gap that was virtually unknown just twenty years ago. “My goal is to identify the parameters we need to measure in women in order to set limit values for harmful chemicals,” she says. Today, many limits are set based on male biology, but according to Hanna Johansson, it is an assumption that women are also protected. “Through my research, I am fighting to bring us one step closer to equal and fair protection of male and female fertility.” Thank you to Hanna Johansson and all the researchers who fight to gain new knowledge that promotes equal rights and opportunities between the sexes. #DTUdk #TechnologyForPeople #womeninstem #genderequality #internationalwomensday
