Day 2 at the IEEE 6G Summit in Dresden just closed its doors and with it this year’s conference. The conference day was opened by Dorothee Bär, federal minister of Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung and with opening talks of Professor Gerhard Fettweis of Vodafone Chair Mobile Communications Systems and Professor Frank Fitzek. Speakers from Nokia, Ericsson, NVIDIA, Airbus, Bosch, BMW Group, mobile operators & leading universities covered topics from the evolution towards 6G to robotics and cyber security.    Marco Zangani, Director of Strategy & Architecture of Vodafone pointed out the importance of the 6 GHz band for #6G and the benefits of 200 MHz wide channels for efficient mobile capacity expansion. The fundamental capabilities for 6G  will be an enhanced efficiency, capacity, security and AI. Michael Jakob Reinartz, director innovation of Vodafone Germany was in the closing panel jointly with other operators and tower companies. He pointed out the role of digital services beyond just connectivity. Examples are usage of network as a sensor and the combination with digital twins.    The IEEE 6G Summit in Dresden brought together leading international experts from industry, academia, and government to discuss the future of mobile communications beyond 5G.
