After the main stage at our Next-Level Health Systems AI Summit with HLTH Inc., the most candid and critical conversations happened in the interactive roundtables led by Team8 Partners Varda Shalev, Dror Grof, Demetrios L. Kouzoukas, together with our event partners, Lee Shapiro, Jodi Goldstein Daniel and Jody Tropeano Greene. What became clear quickly: AI is not the bottleneck. Five themes emerged: 1. Governance must be centralized. Adoption cannot be. Set standards and oversight at the system level, but allow flexibility at the department level. Clinical reality is too varied for a one-size-fits-all approach. 2. Start small to scale big. Leading organizations begin with patient engagement and operational use cases, building trust and infrastructure before moving into more complex clinical applications. 3. Shadow AI needs governance, not prohibition. Clinicians are already using AI tools whether it’s permitted or not. The focus must shift to clear guidance on safe, responsible use across different risk levels. 4. Waiting for perfection is slowing progress. If value outweighs friction, deploy. Trust is built through use and iteration, not just upfront validation. 5. Adoption determines ROI. If clinicians don’t use it, nothing else matters. 🌟 The takeaway: Healthcare AI isn’t constrained by technology. Healthcare systems must address governance, trust, workflow, and risk in order to deploy properly and responsibly.
