There are moments in motorsport that remind you exactly why you put in the countless hours behind the scenes. Saturday's 50-minute pit stop race at Donington Park delivered one of those moments. In GT Cup, races are often won or lost during the amateur driver's stint. While the lap time differences between professional drivers are typically very small, the gaps between amateur drivers can be much greater. That makes the opening stint absolutely fundamental to the outcome of the race. Peter Erceg's task was clear: stay with our rivals in the McLaren and BMW, keep us firmly in contention, and hand the car over in a position where we could fight for the win. He did exactly that. Peter's performance was another demonstration of just how far he has come since joining the prestigious GT Cup Championship last year. His consistency, pace and race craft kept Audi Sport Customer Racing Team PB Racing in the hunt, providing the perfect platform for the second half of the race. From there, our engineers JMH AUTOMOTIVE LIMITED made the strategic calls, the pit crew executed a faultless stop, and our Pro driver, Marcus Clutton, delivered a spectacular chase. Hunting down the leading McLaren in the closing stages, and closing a 29 sec gap, Marcus completed a decisive overtake to secure the overall victory. More than ever, this race showed that success in motorsport is never about one individual. It is the result of drivers, engineers and mechanics working as one team—finding the right strategy, making calculated decisions under pressure, and being prepared to take the right risks when the opportunity presents itself.
