The Neeley Fellows Junior cohort traveled to Chile over spring break as part of the Global Business with an Ethical Lens course, where they had the opportunity to engage with international business in a real-world context. Through company visits across industries including energy, agriculture, food, e-commerce, and sustainable mining, Neeley Fellows explored how Chile’s export-driven economy is shaped by its geography, culture, and political landscape. Students connected classroom case studies to conversations with industry leaders, gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities businesses face on a global scale. Outside of the classroom, Fellows immersed themselves in Chilean culture through experiences such as a walking tour of Santiago, dance and cooking classes, visits to local markets, and hands-on work alongside students at an agricultural school. Students developed a deeper understanding of how a country’s geographic and political positioning directly influences its business environment. While these concepts were introduced through case studies, hearing from professionals and experiencing them firsthand provided a more complete and lasting perspective. Experiences like this continue to strengthen the global perspective of Neeley Fellows as they soon enter the business world.
