A good search pattern makes a good UX. Before designing a search interface for any platform, we should know about some search patterns and the best practices to use them. 1.Explicit search Explicit search relies on an explicit action to perform the search and view results. A good practice is to provide a clear button in the field and an option to cancel the search. 2.AutoComplete Typing initial letters will immediately give a set of possible results.Emphasize the matching search text in the search results. 3.Scoped search Lets you select criteria before submitting the search. Provide options based on the data set, three to six scoping options are good enough. 4.Search Form A separate form for entering search criteria and a search button.Minimizing the number of input fields and making proper field size is a good practice.
