Therapy for Ulcerative Colitis A Nanjing-based research group found that cyclodextrin derivatives, specifically HPβCD and SBEβCD, may have therapeutic potential in ulcerative colitis. Building on earlier evidence that γ-cyclodextrin alone improved UC-like symptoms in mice, the follow-up study showed that HPβCD and SBEβCD reduced inflammatory signaling, helped preserve intestinal barrier function, and reshaped dysbiotic gut microbiota. The impact is notable because these compounds are already known for good safety, solubility, scalability, and pharmaceutical use. Overall, the work opens a promising new direction for low-cost, cyclodextrin-based UC therapies, though further validation will be needed before clinical translation. read the whole story here: https://lnkd.in/dE-tjsTb photo credit: Cyclodextrin news
