Award-Winning Commercial Litigator, Bar Leader, Historian, and Keynote Speaker

Today at the Belo, in connection with the Dallas Bar Association’s President Jonathan Childers’ commitment to recognizing the importance of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, I moderated a timely conversation with two of the leading Thomas Jefferson historians in the world---Peter Onuf and Frank Cogliano. Their new book Thomas Jefferson Survives: American Independence in His Time and Ours came out on June 9 and was reviewed last Saturday in the Wall Street Journal. In our onstage conversation in front of 180 DBA members, we explored Jefferson’s complicated legacy, the ideas that shaped American independence, and the continuing relevance of those principles in our own time. My thanks to Francis and Peter for an engaging and thought-provoking conversation, and to everyone who joined us for this special luncheon program. For those who would like to hear the full conversation, I’ll be sharing it in next week’s podcast episode, along with the link to listen. #America250 #AmericanHistory #ThomasJefferson #DeclarationOfIndependence #CivicEducation #TalmageBoston
