We were lucky to welcome jenny heremans, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) nurse at ZAS - Ziekenhuis aan de Stroom, for an inspiring and eye‑opening conversation. Jenny shared her perspective on how supporting people living with IBD goes far beyond managing physical symptoms. We discussed the emotional burden of the disease, its impact on daily life, and how these realities are often invisible during regular medical follow‑up. One clear message came through: IBD nurses play a central role in truly patient-centered, multidisciplinary care. Through listening, educating, coordinating care and advocating for patients, they help ensure that treatment considers the whole person, not just the disease. Improving IBD care means addressing both medical needs and the broader human experience of living with a chronic disease. A big thank you to Jenny for the thoughtful discussion and for the important work she does every day to support patients. #WorldIBDDay #IBD #MultidisciplinaryCare #PatientCentredCare #MentalHealth #ChronicDisease #RevealingTheInvisible #IBDnurse
