NPR's Science Friday published an excerpt from chapter 6 of Pharma Monopoly, "Wall Street's Pharmacy." The chapter opens with a quote from Merck's founder, George Merck: “We try to remember that medicine is for the patient. We try never to forget that medicine is for the people. It’s not for the profits.”  - George Merck, 1950 We felt it was important to revisit George Merck’s statement before unpacking how, over the last 40 years, pharma executives including Merck’s current CEO Robert M.
