📢 [#JustPublished] Getting that notification that your paper is officially published is definitely one of the most rewarding and heartwarming moments in the PhD journey - because it reminds you that all the late nights, uncertainties, and hard work finally turned into a real contribution to knowledge! 🚀 We are delighted to announce that our paper “Two acts, one stage: Crowdfunding and the power of self-presentation in times of crisis” has been published in the Journal of Small Business Management! ➡️ Carolin Bock ➡️ Konstantin Kurz 📝 What the paper explores The COVID-19 pandemic transformed reward-based crowdfunding into a dual-purpose space: traditional value-driven campaigns coexisted with survival-driven campaigns launched by businesses seeking urgent financial relief. Our study asks how these two campaign types compete for backers’ attention and how their self-presentation strategies shape success. 💡 Why this matters Our findings provide actionable insights for entrepreneurs, small businesses, platform designers, and policymakers seeking to effectively position crowdfunding campaigns in turbulent environments. They illustrate how crises restructure entrepreneurial finance by placing value-creating and survival-oriented logics on the same digital stage and demonstrate that aligning impression management techniques with a campaign’s underlying purpose is critical for driving backer support. 📄 You can find the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ee4_R75c Journal of Small Business Management International Council for Small Business (ICSB) LOEWE emergenCITY Technische Universität Darmstadt TU Darmstadt Chair of Entrepreneurship
