We’re proud to help build India’s first open-data agricultural ecosystem. The initiative, Annam.AI, aims to provide farmers free, real-time , and personalized agricultural intelligence – at scale. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed as part of an event in Nice, France attended by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and France’s President Emmanuel Macron. With more frequent extreme weather events, such as El Niño, and crop losses from pests and diseases, access to better data can help farmers make more informed decisions, strengthen resilience and accelerate precision agriculture. We will contribute our R&D and agronomic expertise to develop crop health, pest forecasting and heat stress models. “At Syngenta we're creating breakthroughs for farmers in every field, to deliver higher yields with lower impact. Annam.AI presents a unique opportunity to contribute to a transformative, digital foundation for Indian agriculture that will benefit more than 600 million people,” ~ Our CEO Jeff Rowe said. Annam.AI, meaning “food.AI” in Sanskrit, is backed by MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India. The project is driven by Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, a premier engineering and technology university in Punjab, part of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) network.
