El Niño is strengthening and threatens food security, livelihoods and agricultural production across the world’s most vulnerable regions through this year and next. 🍃 The prolonged period of above-average temperatures in the equatorial Pacific is expected to peak by the end of the year, says the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the World Food Programme are appealing for help to protect nearly nine million people from the potential impact of a strong El Niño weather pattern across 22 high-risk priority countries.
