#TropicalTracings: Miami Moment (that I wish had been shown in last night's excellent PBS documentary): Community leader Annie Coleman pins a corsage on contralto Marian Anderson (Photo from HistoryMiami's collection of the Miami News archives). Last night's documentary mentioned Anderson's initial reluctance to boycott communities with segregated concert halls and a 1951 NAACP campaign to boycott her as a result. She changed her mind - and Miami was one of the beneficiaries in 1952, when she sang to an integrated audience at the Dade County Auditorium.
