Sri Lanka’s plastic waste challenge goes beyond collection and recycling. It is also about governance, infrastructure, finance, business capacity, and making circular solutions viable for SMEs and recyclers. Through the recently completed SWITCH-Asia Official #PLASTICS project, progress was made in ✅ strengthening circular economy practices, ✅ advancing Extended Producer Responsibility, and ✅ supporting greener business models. Discover more 👉 https://lnkd.in/gk5whXGq 🎯 IMPACT IN NUMBERS: • 150 SMEs assessed, trained, and supported with tailored business plans, with 99% improving their ECAT scores • 100 RECP assessments completed, helping businesses reduce material, energy, and water use • EUR 961,910 mobilised for green investments, with 100 SMEs accessing financial services • 806 full-time equivalent green jobs sustained or created, including 295 for women • 10 entrepreneurs supported through the innovation challenge, and 54 business development service providers capacitated More than managing plastic waste, the project helped businesses cut costs, use resources more efficiently, access finance, and contribute to a more circular plastics economy in Sri Lanka.
