New long-term data show that parents who sit less and move more have children who are more active – and this influence lasts for years. The study provides evidence on how parental activity patterns shape children’s movement behaviour over time, with differing roles for mothers and fathers. Conducted by Swiss TPH and partners within the SOPHYA cohort, the research was published today in the Journal of Activity, Sedentary and Sleep Behaviors. Together with earlier SOPHYA findings, it highlights the importance of long-term cohort studies for informing effective public health policy. Read the article and learn more about SOPHYA’s contribution to understanding physical activity across generations.
