🔬 Screening is one of the most effective tools in cancer detection, but uptake varies widely across cancers and regions. For example, cervical screening reaches around 70–80% in some countries but remains below 50% in others. Colorectal and breast screening show similar variation. This variation matters. Differences in screening uptake translate directly into differences in outcomes across regions. Earlier diagnosis improves survival, yet many cancers are still detected late, and progress remains uneven. Access alone is not enough. Awareness and participation are major bottlenecks.
