šØ Risk REconsidered is back, with a fresh new look! Swiss Re's Risk REconsidered podcast has updated its format to include video as we continue our exploration of insurance-relevant risks ā and our industry's efforts to support resilience against a constantly changing array of threats. For our latest episode, we're marking an anniversary of sorts: of the massive floods that engulfed Thailand in 2011, a catastrophic event that reshaped how we think of secondary perils. Lasting for months, monsoon-fed floodwaters swamped industrial estates near Bangkok where carmakers and computer hardware manufacturers had set up shop. The result: a regional disaster that took on global proportions as critical supply chains were disrupted for months. Swiss Re's Balz Grollimund, who heads the Catastrophe Perils team that builds the models that underpin our underwriting, tells Risk REconsidered why this disaster remains a textbook example of why insurers must diligently track their exposures and accumulations to avoid surprises when disaster strikes. Have a watch and listen, to learn more about the Thai floods, still the costliest-ever flood event for the global insurance industry, and how they continue to be a useful case study for insurers and reinsurers looking to better manage their evolving, interconnected risks: š§ Watch the latest episode of Risk REconsidered: https://lnkd.in/eZ8WUn7E
