At this year's ASCO Annual Meeting, Prof. Dr. Roger von Moos presented the results of the phase III SAKK 96/12 REDUSE trial, involving 1,380 patients with bone metastases from breast or prostate cancer.    The study investigated whether denosumab, a bone-targeted therapy commonly administered every four weeks, could be given less frequently after an initial treatment period. The results showed that administration every 12 weeks was non-inferior in preventing symptomatic skeletal events, while reducing treatment burden, costs, and side effects such as hypocalcaemia and osteonecrosis of the jaw.  These findings support a new standard of care that benefits both patients and the healthcare system.    This important study was made possible through the collaboration of the Swiss Cancer Institute and its partners. We would like to sincerely thank CSS, Helsana Versicherungen AG and prio.swiss for their support in funding this practice-changing research.    🔗 Read the abstract here: https://lnkd.in/eWzxWerH #ASCO2026 #CancerResearch #ClinicalTrials #BoneMetastases #Oncology #SwissCancerInstitute #SAKK
