“A place is only truly sustainable when the people behind it are safe.” This belief shaped our inaugural Construction Safety Forum in the Chinese Mainland, held at HKRI Taikoo Hui during the 25th National “Work Safety Month”. Under the theme “Return Home Safely – Full-Cycle H&S Management”, speakers explored how safety must be embedded across the full lifecycle of a project, from early design and construction through to long-term operation and maintenance. Here are some of the key takeaways: • Tim Blackburn, our Chief Executive, reaffirmed Swire Properties’ people-centred culture and emphasised that safety must be “designed in, built in, and lived every day” as part of our SD 2050 vision. • Shi Yu, Deputy District Mayor of Jing’an District, highlighted safety as the foundation of high-quality urban development, using Jing’an as an example to reinforce the importance of identifying construction risks and strengthening safety responsibilities. • Alan Lee, General Manager of Taikoo Li Xi’an, shared practical insight into how innovation and technology can help integrate heritage preservation with safety considerations. • Wallace Lin, our General Manager of Facility Management Department, discussed the importance of incorporating "Operational Safety Excellence" into the full-cycle safety management theme. • A panel featuring Stephen Ho, Director-Projects, Chinese Mainland; Richard Hui, Director-Facilities Management, Chinese Mainland; Garry Magee, General Manager & Head of Corporate Services, China, HSBC Corporate Services (Shanghai) Co., Ltd; and Zhao Xingbo, President, Shanghai Construction No.1 Group Co., Ltd, underscored the importance of maintaining safety awareness and risk mitigation during the transition from construction to operation. As our projects continue to advance across multiple cities, we remain committed to working with our partners towards one shared goal: Zero Harm — because truly sustainable developments are those where everyone returns home safely. #SwireProps #SD2050 #WhereNext #ZeroHarm
