Historically, it was associated with lighting bonfires to mark the changing seasons and ward off evil spirits. Today, it is celebrated as a way to welcome spring and bring communities together. Across Sweden, people gather to sing, celebrate, and mark the transition from the long winter months to brighter days ahead. While SwedCham will not host a bonfire, we look forward to celebrating in a way that reflects the spirit of the tradition.
