Europe’s competitiveness will be defined not only by policy ambition, but by the ability to deliver. As the European leader in architecture and engineering consulting, Sweco contributes expertise to EU-level discussions on Europe’s competitiveness, resilience, the green transition and other topics. At ICC Sweden’s AGM & High-Level Seminar recently, Åsa Bergman joined EU Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič, responsible for trade and economic security, in a discussion on “Balancing Trade, Security & Competitiveness.” She highlighted that Europe has made strong progress in shaping policy frameworks and mobilising investment, and the priority now is implementation at scale. Turning ambition into reality means strengthening energy systems, transport infrastructure, and industrial capacity to ensure resilient supply chains. Accelerating delivery of this will require: • access to engineering and technical expertise • streamlined and harmonised permitting • cross-border technical mobility • strengthened delivery capacity Closing the gap between policy and implementation will be decisive for Europe’s long-term competitiveness, resilience, and strategic autonomy. This is where Sweco contributes, with 23,000 experts delivering around 150,000 projects each year for approximately 39,000 clients across Europe.
