In England, 51% of traffic signals are over 10 years old 🚦, set to increase to 61% by 2028. As part of #StuckonRed, a shared industry campaign, we are calling for the renewal of the UK’s traffic technology infrastructure. We may talk about potholes, but across the UK, there are thousands of DOTT-holes – digitally obsolescent traffic technology ❌🤖 The result is a worse experience for the road network: outdated infrastructure inhibits the sector’s ability to create safer roads, reduce congestion, lower emissions, ensure cybersecurity, and deploy new technologies like connected and automated vehicles. Together with Intelligent Transport Systems UK, and other industry partners, we are calling for a targeted, rolling programme of investment to support local authorities renew assets.
