Last week, our team participated in the Brisbane Maritime Industry Careers Group Maritime Careers Open Day at the Port of Brisbane, hosted by Australian Commercial Vessel Operators Association (ACVOA) and the Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd. The event exceeded expectations, with attendance doubling compared to 2025 with more than 300 students, parents, teachers, career advisors and industry representatives attending the day, alongside 32 Brisbane maritime employers and stakeholders.   Our Svitzer Brisbane team shared their experiences, career journeys and insights into the diverse opportunities available across the maritime industry. Hudson King, one of our Brisbane Masters, also joined the speaker program to share his pathway into the industry and career journey with Svitzer. Hudson joined Svitzer Brisbane in 2023 at just 23 years old as a casual deck rating. Through hard work and embracing every opportunity, he progressed from deck to mate, secured a full-time rostered position, and in 2025 became Svitzer’s youngest ever tug master. His story was a great inspiration for the many young students in attendance.    The enthusiasm shown by students throughout the day reinforced the importance of initiatives like these in showcasing the rewarding and diverse career opportunities available across the maritime sector. #MaritimeCareers #PortOfBrisbane #Svitzer #MaritimeIndustry
