👏 We’re delighted to welcome Stuart Oates and Sophie Gregory to the SFT team!   Working as Strategic Advisors, Sophie and Stuart are supporting our work with their practical farming experience, communications know-how and extensive networks.    Our work has always been grounded in the realities of farming, with our CEO, Patrick Holden, having farmed for over 50 years and many of our team holding direct experience in farming.    Through initiatives like the Global Farm Metric, we are working to drive systems change and enable farming that delivers positive outcomes for climate, nature and people. At the heart of this is the need to support farmers to transition to more sustainable practices, ensuring that they are rewarded for delivering public goods along with healthy food.   Stuart and Sophie’s contributions will support us in continuing to do this and to keep putting farmers’ voices at the heart of our work.   🗣️ “I am excited to work with the SFT because I want to bring a grounded farmer voice into the forum, the day-to-day reality, the commercial pressures and the opportunities. I believe productive agriculture and environmental goals can and must work alongside each other, but it needs practical solutions that make sense on real farms. I also care deeply about strengthening rural communities and education, especially helping more young people feel connected to farming, food and the countryside. I hope together we can help build trust, improve understanding and support actions that deliver outcomes for nature, food production and the people who live and work in these landscapes.” – Sophie Gregory, Farmer and Nuffield Farming Scholar.   🗣️ “Joining forces with the SFT is a huge privilege. The work they do is fundamental to the essential transition towards sustainable farming and food production. Bridging the gap between policy, the public and practical solutions is at the heart of my drivers in life, so it's fantastic to be able to act together in making good things happen for us now, for future generations and for the planet as a whole.” – Stuart Oates, Farmer, Nuffield Farming scholar and environmental journalist
