This anthology is about secrets, family secrets, the ones we in the USA won't talk about because we are pious, upstanding Christians, or we are ashamed, or we are scared of being shunned by our family and community, or we can't settle down to grow up far sooner than we are truly able.It is also about the secrets of how we feel when we meet family that we don't remember, or half-siblings no one told us about. Or the "parents" who we find out in later life aren't really our parents! So, so many secrets. These are the stories that pull back the veil, allowing you, the reader into our darkest, quietest thoughts. Each essay invites you inside our unique world of love, loss, and rediscovery of self and others. And what it all means. The essays are designed to illuminate, create consciousness of decisions (or non-decisions), they are to create community. But mostly, they are to tell you that secrets happen. All the time. And this is the fallout! It's pub day for Relative Strangers! I'm honored to be included among these remarkable essayists who shared their stories, to B.K. Jackson to Diane Gottlieb and Ariana DB for getting the book into the world, and to Libby Copeland who provided a wonderful foreword.
