The work is the result of a close collaboration between Jacobs School engineers and surgeons at the UC San Diego School of Medicine and UC San Diego Health, including the UC San Diego Center for the Future of Surgery. The effort was led by senior authors Michael Yip, Shanglei Liu and Ryan Broderick with first author Zekai Lucas Zhang. The coauthors were Nikita Thareja, Florian Richter, Peihan Zhang, Calvin Joyce, Soofiyan Atar, and Garth Jacobsen.
