An accountant, a marketing exec, and a six-year-old walk into a pool. That's roughly how Modon Family Day went down last week. Pretty much the whole company turned up with their kids and partners, and a few "I've never stood on a surfboard in my life but my daughter dragged me here" faces. Modon is the parent company of Surf Abu Dhabi, but the pool is only one small part of what they do. They are responsible for some of the biggest and boldest residential, hospitality and sports projects in the region. Most of their team spends the week in offices and on sites, which means plenty of the people who came down had never stood on a surfboard before in their lives. Well, spoiler alert, that has definitely changed since. The kids didn't need any convincing. They were in the pool before their parents had finished their coffee, back in line for another wave the second they finished one, and out of the water just long enough to grab a snack. The adults got there on their own time. Between the beach clean-up, the surf sessions, and family fitness on the deck, even the "I'll just watch" crowd had given up on watching. By the end of the day, we still hadn't worked out who had more fun. The kids or the parents. Thanks for coming down, everyone.
