The hole only moved a few millimeters. So why did the tooling cost jump? šŸ‘‰ Avoid costly tooling surprises with better DFM: https://lnkd.in/gRG2S7RM This is a mistake I see quite often. The hole looks almost identical on the drawing. But from a tooling perspective, everything changes. If the hole follows the die opening direction, it can usually be formed directly in the tool. Move it slightly, and suddenly it requires a slide. That means: • higher tooling cost • more maintenance • longer cycle times • additional production risk The biggest cost drivers in die casting are not always the features you can see. Sometimes a small design change can completely change how the tool is built. Good DFM is about spotting these risks before the tool is cut. #diecasting #DFM #tooldesign #manufacturingengineering #productdesign #sunrisemetal
