SunPower's Silicon Valley subsidiary Cobalt Power Systems has completed a 1.2 MW solar and storage installation across three sites at Santa Clara University — including a solar superstructure atop the North Parking Garage, elevated carports at the Levey Parking Lot, and a rooftop array at the Athletic Excellence Center. The systems are projected to generate over 2.1 million kWh of clean electricity annually, delivering an estimated $350,000 in energy savings per year and $8.8 million over the project's 25-year warrantied life — with a payback period of less than six years prior to depreciation benefits. The installation was engineered to be fully ADA compliant with forward-looking architecture to support future EV charging and additional renewable energy expansion across campus. T.J. Rodgers, CEO of SunPower, commented: "A presence in Silicon Valley enabling engineering and construction projects like this one at Santa Clara University is exactly why we acquired Cobalt Power Systems. Commercial and multi-family solar will be a high-growth area within the solar industry in the coming years and this is a strong start for SunPower."
