This is where the future of flight propulsion will come from. The betting is on Hydrogen and for smaller craft electric. NOT some corn field in the USA taking food away from humans to just add to Kerosine just to make a mere 5% of it sustainable. Nor from old cooking oil coming from the back streets of Hong kong. Aircraft need new propulsion systems that have similar weight/power ratios to existing fuel which sort of excludes electric for big aircraft as you have to carry heavy batteries both at take off and landing. SAF ( sustainable aircraft/aviation fuel) is nothing of the kind but airlines make a big thing about it as their publicity departments want to give the ( mistaken) impression they are doing something towards renewable energy. There will be a solution indeed rocket power is already using a lot of the technology that will eventually power most large passenger craft. It is only a matter of time. Meanwhile just ignore any invitation to support SAF in any way. All it will achieve is making 5 % of aviation fuel contain a sustainable additive. Well petroleum and diesel already achieve that ( diesel sometimes as much as 10%) but Governments across the world are saying that is not enough! Well it is'nt and SAF even when it is universally available will achieve very little.
