When Laura Hamblin joined Suncorp as a graduate nine years ago, her goal was to build a long-term career and keep growing.  Today, as an Underwriting Manager, she leads a team supporting broker partners across New South Wales and the ACT – and is now welcoming a new graduate into the program that helped shape her journey. “Coming out of university, I had no idea what underwriting was – I’d never actually heard of it before,” Laura explained. “As part of Suncorp’s Graduate Program, I did three rotations in different product teams within underwriting, and my third rotation was in liability underwriting; I just found that I enjoyed that one the best and wanted to continue growing in that area.” Angela Shi joined the organisation’s Graduate Program in January, stepping into her first full‑time corporate role within Laura’s commercial liability underwriting team. “Like many of the other grads, this was my first full-time corporate role and I didn’t know what to expect. But the Suncorp grad team really did a great job of explaining everything to us,” Angela said.
