Recently our Construction Team handed over Summerset Mount Denby in Whangārei to our Operations team, marked with a dawn blessing. The three-storey village centre has around 10,000m2 of floor space, and is home to 20 memory care suites, 36 care suites and 60 serviced apartment suites. A residents’ bar, cafe, indoor pool and gymnasium, hobby workshop and bowling green are all contained within. Material choices, layout and construction methods all influence how a village performs over time for residents, communities and the environment. Cross-laminated timber was used for internal floors, stair structures and lift shafts, reducing our carbon footprint. Solar panels on the roof, space conditioning and air-conditioned corridors via an efficient water-based heating/cooling system contribute to energy efficiencies. Designing for longevity is how Summerset Retirement Villages remain resilient, comfortable and fit for purpose well into the future. Summerset Mount Denby’s village centre has its official opening planned for Friday April 17. This was a huge One Team effort.
