5th Year Medical Student at the University of Leicester | Incoming Resident Doctor at Guy’s and St Thomas’
I’m delighted to announce that I have recently passed my final medical school exams and will be starting my journey as a resident doctor in a few months! I am currently on my 6-week elective in the Philippines where I undergo shadowing and assisting in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at a public, government-run hospital. It has been an absolute eye-opener shadowing doctors at a public hospital, where most patients share a bed, and lack in hospital supplies and resources, and most importantly, treatment. Upon reflection I am ever so grateful for the free healthcare we receive from the NHS, and I look forward to starting on Paediatrics with the team at St Thomas’ Hospital in London this August. I am also ever so grateful for all the staff, lecturers and the friends I have made over the past 5 years at the University of Leicester. It has been a challenging journey but one that has helped me become the person I am today, and I am so excited for what is yet to come! ~
