Exploring the Foundations of Secure Communication In our recent Information Assurance lab, I worked with SSL/TLS protocols using OpenSSL to build and test secure HTTPS connections. Key takeaways: • Generated and analyzed digital certificates • Observed how browsers react to self-signed certificates • Simulated secure servers for multiple departments • Understood MITM attack risks and prevention using Certificate Authorities This hands-on experience really helped bridge theory with real-world security practices.
