A new chapter begins: signing our largest water supply contract in India 💧 We have signed a 25-year water concession agreement with the Salem City Municipal Corporation in Tamil Nadu. This agreement will provide more than one million people with access to safe, high-quality drinking water through a technology-enabled, 24/7 water supply service. 🗺️This landmark contract is the largest water supply project to be executed by SUEZ in India. It builds on our nearly five decades of presence in the country, as well as our proven ability to deliver large-scale, resilient water infrastructure. Over the coming years, our teams will rehabilitate and modernise Salem's water supply infrastructures, including its water treatment plants and pumping stations. The project will also entail replacing 1,800 km of ageing transmission and distribution pipelines, constructing 26 new service reservoirs and rehabilitating 39 existing reservoirs. Advanced digital systems, including SCADA and automation, will be deployed to optimise operations and customer service across the city's 91 km². 🚰Upon completion, this performance-based concession will provide 155 million litres of high-quality drinking water per day, reduce non-revenue water, enhance operational efficiency, and guarantee a reliable, long-term service to the people of Salem. This achievement reflects the growing confidence that Indian cities have in performance-based public–private partnerships as a means of addressing critical water challenges while delivering sustainable and accountable urban services.
